Frequently Asked Questions

We will be happy to answer any questions you might have, but these are the ones we hear most often.
  1. ?

Where can I get new patient forms?
They will be available for download soon. Until that time, call the office and Jill will send you the paperwork you need to fill out either by email or by postal mail.
  2. ?

Does Dr. Tom do tooth colored fillings?
Yes! The vast majority of the fillings Dr. Tom does are resin composite, and we make every effort to match the color of your teeth.
  3. ?

    Do you accept my insurance?
We participate with most PPO insurances. We do not accept UPMC For You, UPMC for Kids, Gateway, and Coventry Cares at this time. You can still have work done here, even if we do not accept your insurance. In that instance, you pay your bill with us, we submit the work to your insurance company, and they will reimburse you, depending on your coverage.
  4. ?

    Are you accepting new patients?
    Yes!
  5. ?

At what age should my child first see a dentist?
We go out of our way to establish a good rapport with our young patients so they don't develop a fear of the dental office. We like to see them around age 3-4, and we make them as comfortable as possible.
  6. ?

How long does a new patient exam take?
If you haven't seen a dentist in awhile, we recommend you see the hygienist first. The hygienist will do a thorough cleaning, take any x-rays necessary, and the doctor will perform an exam, so please allow 70 minutes. If you have had a recent cleaning, please allow 30-40 minutes for your new patient exam.
